JESSICA, a student in the Chance for Change program, compares our courses to those offered in community colleges and says this:
I chose to participate in this course through Chance for Change over CCV because:
1. The individualized attention to detail and care their services provide to the student by the instructors is unparalleled by any other course I have taken in my Undergraduate or Graduate program. I am taking this course to meet a portfolio requirement.
2. The information and feedback given is so specific and unique to situations in my setting, tailored to my needs and my students. This allows me to get a higher level of value from the course because it pertains directly to me and my students.
3. The availability of the course is perfect for a working mom. I can access the course from home or any location I may be staying.
Note from Jody: Zoom access is for college enrolled students only; whereas, Vermont is not ready to honor online learning for private schools offering Zoom access.

MY NAME IS JODY MARQUIS.
I am the founder of Chance for Change Institute for Early Care and Education.
I am a graduate of the grand school of Hard Knocks University, and Union Institute University, where I developed the Chance for Change model.
I started my field in Early Childhood as a mom on welfare, coming out of addiction, and wanting to make a better life for my children.
I spent the first years of my career as a volunteer at the Lund Family Center program, first as a volunteer and then an assistant teacher.
The field of early care and education saved my life and the life of my children.
That is why I am so passionate about making sure teachers have what they need to serve the families that come into their lives.
During my journey of healing, learning, growing, and becoming, a program called Creative Minds Children's Center emerged.
As a center owner, I struggled to find the training and support I needed for me and my teachers.
I was so lucky to have the best teachers in my own life helping to pave the way.
OVER A PERIOD OF 8 YEARS, I became a trainer and a coach, integrating adult development and child development.
BY 2010, Chance for Change became a training model known for integrating training with personalized support that has led people to a greater level of mastery.
We are known for ensuring that the information, the tools, and the support people receive allows them to meet their job requirements, professional development requirements, and systems requirements while honoring themselves and the children and families they serve.
MY PERSONAL MISSION is that every student experiences love and support in our schools.
I am an EXTRAORDINARY coach and train my team to become EXTRAORDINARY coaches, who know how to guide people from where they are to where they want to be in their personal and professional lives with love and caring accountability.
We do this using easy to understand information and tools that are 100% applicable in the day-to-day hustle and bustle.
The course and the support that came with it allowed me to develop my confidence in my job as a teacher. I stopped second-guessing myself in my decisions with children.
I loved learning about temperament in addition to developmental stages, whereas I could then communicate to the child's authentic self. I love knowing that my decisions are in the best interest of the children I serve.
Observation has become the key to planning successful environments for the children I care for. I highly recommend this course, not because of the qualification, but because of the way it is taught and the way you will be supported. Meeting my qualifications was an extra bonus.

Kara Von Berhen
Hi I am Kara. I am a center owner, a teacher with Community College of Vermont, and the Apprenticeship Program. Chance for Change Institute for Early Care and Education brings a very special approach to teaching teachers. She lives what she believes, and she loves knowing that her own story as an Early Childhood Teacher, then owner, and now International Trainer, is providing those like myself the information, tools, and support we need to be teachers of excellence.
I met Jody in 2013 and loved what she was doing so much that I enrolled my entire program in her Chance for Change Program, where I got to witness first-hand the power of child-centered planning. Observation truly is the foundation of learning this art.
I also realized how confused our field is about what it means to be child-centered. Even in my 5 Star program, I was taken back at how teacher-centered we were, and how much we lost our way with honoring the authentic needs of children. No guilt and no shame. Simply a reflection of the field.
Over time, I became so passionate about the curriculum system of Jody and the Chance for Change Program that I took her up on her offer to help design and teach child-centered courses to the field of Early Care and Education.
Not only have I helped design this course, I live the course and help those that I lead in my early care and education programs to do the same. I do hope you will join. The world needs teachers to pave the way for authentic living.
